then integrate the cart into your site to compliment the site’s design

ADMINISTRATIVE AREA
The business owner doesn’t have to rely on a programmer to change the
products that are available. The owner can go into the osCommerce shopping
cart system’s administrative area and change prices, descriptions,
set payment, shipping, and tax options, etc. all in an easy interface. If
an owner chooses this option at a modest fee, our SAMSA experts will train
and demonstrate to them how easy running their own shopping cart system can

CUSTOMERS
The osCommerce shopping cart software allows business owners to keep a detailed
database of all registered customers under very tight security measures. Details
about customers include their address, email, and order history. Another
perk of using this software is that once a customer logs in, they receive
a personal greeting. Registered customers can opt to receive product
updates and store changes. An individual need not be registered to
browse the online store’s products.
PRODUCTS & NAVIGATION
The owner can choose to place their products in various categories and subcategories. The
osCommerce shopping cart software makes for easy navigation of products from
any page the customer is on.
DETAILED PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS
Each product displayed for sale on the business’s site can contain
an image, description, and/or price. A customer may make any image
enlarged by clicking on it. For unique products, customers can choose
which color and/or size they would like to order. New products are
automatically featured on the store’s main page.
PRODUCT SEARCH
Customers can search for a particular item by typing a relevant product description,
keyword, or name in a search box. This is similar to using a search
engine. Customers may also choose to search for products according
to the date when they were added or by using other advanced search options.
SEO LINKS
Included with the shopping cart is an advanced, fully-customizable module for producing search engine optimized store links or URLs. This feature may allow search engines to better index and keep track of your pages and generating better results.
BEST SELLING ITEMS
The shopping cart system automatically displays the most popular selling
products on the store’s main page. As new products are sold,
updates are automatically performed on the main page.
PRODUCT REVIEWS
Customers can rate products on a scale of one to five stars and/or write
their own review of a product. This feature of the shopping cart
system is an excellent way to get customer feedback. Product reviews
from current owners are a great way to promote a product to a potential
buyer who is reading the reviews.
MAKING PAYMENTS FOR PURCHASES
There are numerous options available for customers making payments for their
purchases – Credit Card, Check, Money Order, or PayPal, all of which
are collected on secure SSL servers. The owner may choose to disable
any options at their discretion. A customer’s credit card details
are only accessible to the store owner and if the owner chooses to process
the payment manually, the credit card number of the customer is emailed
to them in two parts for extra security measures.
SHIPPING
The osCommerce shopping cart software can be set by the owner to connect
to USPS and UPS servers to calculate shipping costs for customers. The
owner also has the option to set flat shipping rates or to include a table
of shipping rates based on the price or weight of the purchase. The
owner can disable any options at their discretion.
TAXES
Many options are available to the owner for calculating taxes. The
shopping cart can be programmed to automatically calculate sales tax for
the customer based on their location or state. The owner may choose
to set a tax rate for each state, specify tax-free states, or choose not
to charge any tax. If any method of determining tax is chosen, the
cart automatically calculates it and adds it to the final invoice.
INVOICE
The shopping cart automatically generates an invoice which includes in it
the product(s) purchased, the quantity, shipping costs, taxes, and discounts
if applicable. The customer can choose to print a copy and the store
owner is provided a copy of the invoice as well.
PRODUCT SALES
The store owner can set sales for any specified period of time for any product(s). Original
prices will have a strike thru it and the special sale price will appear
next to it in red print.
BUSINESS NEWSLETTER/EZINE
The osCommerce shopping cart system has the ability to send out an informational
newsletter created by the owner to all registered customers. Customers
can choose if they want to subscribe or not upon registering.
THUMBNAIL GENERATOR
Included with the shopping cart is an easy-to-use automatic thumbnail generator for resizing your uploaded pictures. The module lets you pick the size you want for thumbnails and automatically updates your products with the new thumbnail; while still allowing customers to view a full-size pop-up image.
